Lazio have been dealt a blow as Patric is reportedly expected to remain on the sidelines for another month.
The Spaniard has recently suffered an ankle injury which ruled out of Sunday’s big Derby della Capitale clash which the Biancocelesti went on to lose by two goals to nil. According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 31-year-old is dealing with significant swelling, so his condition requires at least another month on the treatment table.
The source reveals that the experienced centre-back flew to Barcelona to undergo specific treatments and try to overcome this issue as swiftly as possible. The player is now expected to miss the Serie A contests against Como, Hellas Verona and Fiorentina, in addition to the final two Europa League group stage fixtures against Real Sociedad and Braga.
In the meantime, Marco Baroni will be mainly relying on Alessio Romagnoli and Mario Gila who have emerged as his main options at the back this season, while Samuel Gigot will be the solitary backup. However, it remains to be seen if the Frenchman has returned to the manager’s good grace following the unsavory incident against Atalanta.
