Blow for Liverpool? Bayern confident of securing new deal for 27y/o star | OneFootball

Bayern Munich are getting increasingly confident of securing the new contract extension for centre-back Dayot Upamecano. 

In a recent interview, Uli Hoeneß revealed that he expects Upamecano to sign a new contract.

Also, other Bayern officials have at times suggested they are confident the French defender will agree terms to continue at the German club.

Christian Falk also told us last month that Liverpool could suffer a blow in the race as the Bavarian giants are getting more confident of keeping him.

Upamecano has a contract at the club until the end of the season.

While it never felt like Bayern would struggle to meet his demands and ambitions, many clubs kept an eye on his situation.

Liverpool were one of them. Ibrahima Konate is facing a similar contract situation at the club, and Upamecano emerged as a potential target for them.

Likewise, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also registered interest in him.

“However, failing that, there are two clubs that interest Upamecano – otherwise, no Premier League clubs are on the list – and these are Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Both outfits are interested in the 27-year-old because he’s currently on track to be a free agent next year.”

According to a latest report from BBC Sport, the defender is now in advanced talks with Bayern over his contract extension.

The report claims that the 27-year-old has held positive discussions with Bayern in recent weeks, with sources indicating the German side are now expecting the central defender to sign fresh terms.

Christian Falk on Upamecano situation

Falk exclusively told CFBayern that all the Bayern bosses are positive that he will sign a new contract and that money isn’t the deciding factor.

The reason why he wants to continue is his good relationship with Kompany. Upamecano would like to continue working with the coach.
