In an interview with transfermarkt.de, Bo Svensson’s agent has spoken on his client’s decision to turn down the Werder Bremen head coaching position. The Dane was known to be the front runner for his third Bundesliga appointment after Werder’s decision to sack Horst Steffen. As many expected, however, the former Mainz and Union Berlin coach had little-to-no interest in the job.

Bo Svensson’s agent reveals he was in favor of the job

My first piece of advice [to all of my clients] is keep their eyes wide open when building your coaching career,” professional agent Mark Kosicke told transfermarkt. “We didn’t necessarily agree on the decision. As a Bremen native, I’m not entirely objective. But I can understand his reasons.

Bo has been enjoying spending time with his family in Denmark,” Kosicke continued. “It wasn’t the right moment for him to jump in. He wants to start working again in the summer. Bo has already had several offers. One can’t say for sure in February that one will get a new job in July.

Maybe Bo will say in the summer that he should have taken the job,” Kosicke went on. “Because there are so many coaches, more than there are good positions available, it’s best for them to work.

I always compare it with a [flirtatious] wink,” Kosicke carried on. “If you’re in a relationship and go to the club, you’re also interesting to other women. If you’re single and looking, you often go home alone. It’s the same with coaches. Those who have a job are interesting.”
