Boca have agreed to loan Juan Barinaga to Racing Club for 12 months, with a fee and an option to buy. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the clause would become obligatory depending on his appearances.
Barinaga’s future became a live issue after Rodolfo Arruabarrena took charge, the right-back was cut from the first-team group and trained apart alongside Marcelo Weigandt.
Two months after being told he was not in the plans, Boca sealed a 12-month deal for his move to Avellaneda, with an initial loan fee of 300,000 dollars.
The agreement includes a 2.5 million dollar purchase option for his full rights, which turns mandatory if he reaches at least 20 official matches for Racing.
Barinaga joined Boca in mid-2024 from Belgrano de Córdoba to bolster the right flank, but intense competition limited his minutes and he never cemented a starting role.
With his exit, Boca continue to streamline the squad in line with Arruabarrena’s wish for a smaller, focused group, prioritising senior quality and promoted youth. The club view the move as positive on sporting and financial grounds, providing minutes for an asset and easing the wage bill. The market remains active, with the coach seeking a centre-back after injuries to Ayrton Costa, Marco Pellegrino and Lautaro Di Lollo.
