Bruno Valdez has rejoined Boca, training separately at the Boca Predio after a loan at Cerro Porteño. According to Sitiboca.com.ar, his deal was thought to have ended on 31 December.

He will not be considered by Claudio Úbeda, but a ligament injury during his loan activated a legal safeguard. Both the loan and his Boca contract were automatically extended, prompting his return.

Even so, the board led by Juan Román Riquelme has decided to dispense with him. The plan is for him to continue at Cerro Porteño, in line with that club's stance at the end of 2025. Details of a definitive exit are set to be defined in the coming days.

His departure also matters for squad rules. Boca would free a foreign slot, a sensitive issue this window. They currently have Carlos Palacios, Williams Alarcón, Ander Herrera, Edinson Cavani, Marcelo Saracchi and new signing Marino Hinestroza. The AFA allows a maximum of six foreigners, with only five permitted to be named per match.

Valdez made 34 appearances for Boca, winning the 2022 Supercopa Argentina and featuring in the 2023 Copa Libertadores final, when he came on in extra time against Fluminense at the Maracaná.

He later said he asked to come on to add aerial presence, a version publicly denied by Jorge Almirón, who said it was a technical decision. For now he trains apart while awaiting a resolution to end his Boca spell and continue his career elsewhere.
