With the window nearing its close and the Apertura approaching, Boca have agreed to terminate Bruno Valdez’s contract, which was due to run until the end of the year.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the Paraguayan centre-back had returned from a loan at Cerro Porteño and was training apart from the squad alongside others not considered by Claudio Úbeda.

The decision ends his time at the club and removes a significant deal from the books, while freeing an overseas slot for a possible recruit.

Following his exit, the foreign quota stands at five players, named as Edinson Cavani, Carlos Palacios, Williams Alarcón and Ander Herrera.

Marcelo Saracchi is also counted, he is on loan at Celtic and due back mid-year.

Boca have yet to secure a signing in this window. A move for Marino Hinestroza collapsed, while San Lorenzo do not want to sell Alexis Cuello and the offer for him appears likely to come to nothing.

This window has only seen departures. Luis Advíncula has also terminated his contract, and several others have left on loan after being deemed surplus.

Riquelme is leading a difficult market.
