Boca Juniors have made Uruguayan right-back Leandro Lozano their first signing of the window. The club said in a statement that he has signed until 31 December 2030 and joined the first-team squad.

Lozano arrives from Argentinos Juniors for 3.5 million dollars, with Boca buying the entirety of his rights. The move addresses a priority to reinforce the right flank.

Rodolfo Arruabarrena pushed for a full-back with range and tactical nous, and judged Lozano the right fit for his plan. He brings dynamism, aggression in the duel and dependable recovery runs.

Boca’s back line had been trimmed at the start of pre-season, with Marcelo Weigandt and Juan Barinaga told they were not in the coach’s plans. Until now the role had fallen to youngster Dylan Gorosito, who will now have competition.

His recent spell in La Paternal showed he can push forward consistently without sacrificing defensive balance. That versatility should help him settle quickly as he begins training with his new team.

The window remains open for Boca, with the board assessing further moves. Focus now turns to strengthening midfield and adding cover in other areas before the new semester begins on 16 July.
