Boca Juniors confirm Marcelo Saracchi is available for transfer | OneFootball

Marcelo Saracchi’s future at Boca Juniors appears to have moved a step closer to an exit after the Argentine club officially confirmed the defender is no longer part of their first-team plans.

The Uruguay international, who spent last season on loan at Celtic, returned to Boca at the end of the campaign but was informed from the outset of pre-season that he should begin looking for a new club.

Celtic remain interested in bringing the left-back back to the Hoops, with Martin O’Neill previously confirming discussions have taken place with Boca over a possible deal.

Saracchi has also attracted interest elsewhere in Argentina, with Estudiantes and Independiente both credited with monitoring his situation.

It is understood Celtic’s preference has been to negotiate another loan move, while Boca Juniors have been pushing for a permanent transfer.

Boca have now publicly identified Saracchi as one of several players available for transfer, confirming he is no longer training alongside the senior squad.

Juan Ramirez, Marcelo Weigandt, Juan Barinaga, Mauricio Benitez and Agustín Martegani have also been placed in the same position.

A club statement said via Daily Record: “They have all been notified of the situation and are training separately from the main group.”
