Leandro Paredes’ return to Boca Juniors is now in the final stages.
According to the Argentine newspaper Olé, the Roma midfielder has already given his definitive yes to the club’s president, Juan Román Riquelme, with the contracts that have already been exchanged between the parties.
The next step is expected on Monday, when Paredes is expected to travel to Italy to formalize his exit from Roma by activating the $3.5 million release clause.
The anticipation for his arrival at the Bombonera is such that Boca Juniors have already decided on his shirt number.
Although he wore De Rossi’s historic number 16 at Roma and in the past with Boca he wore the numbers 10, 20 and 32, Paredes will wear the number 5 shirt.
It is an iconic number in the club’s history, currently on the shoulders of Rodrigo Battaglia, who, according to rumors, would be willing to give it to his new teammate.
Furthermore, the number 5 is the shirt with which Paredes triumphed with the Argentine national team.
