Boca line-up v Cruzeiro in the Copa Libertadores

The team’s head coach, Claudio Úbeda, confirmed Boca’s lineup to face Cruzeiro in Brazil on Matchday 3 of the 2026 Copa Libertadores. El Xeneize will take the field with nine changes compared to the last match they played.

After the 4-0 thrashing of Defensa y Justicia in the Apertura Tournament, Boca switched gears and went into “Copa mode,” as the Sifón described it in the post-match press conference at the Tito Tomaghello.

Copa mode means the starting lineup will once again take center stage from kickoff in the match to be played this Tuesday at Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte. Leandro Brey will be one of the two players to keep his place, along with Milton Delgado. The midfielder had to start on an emergency basis due to Ander Herrera’s injury during the warm-up.

Boca won its first two matches in the Copa Libertadores.

The Xeneize will bring back its full first-choice defense, with Marcelo Weigandt at right back, Lautaro Di Lollo and Ayrton Costa in central defense, and Lautaro Blanco on the left flank. In midfield, Santiago Ascacíbar will partner Leandro Paredes and Milton Delgado, with Tomás Aranda playing a few meters further forward.

The attack will be made up of the duo of Miguel Merentiel and Adam Bareiro, both of whom are coming off goals in the match against the Halcón, where they came on late and only needed a few minutes to score one each. So Boca will take the field this Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Argentina time with nine changes compared to the players who started on Thursday, returning to its “first-choice” lineup.
