Boca completed their pre-season with a 2-1 comeback win over Olimpia in San Nicolás, but concern surrounds Miguel Merentiel and Ezequiel Zeballos after both picked up knocks.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Merentiel felt discomfort in his calf during the game, an area struck earlier in pre-season. He requested a substitution after 15 minutes, with Lucas Janson coming on.
The striker has a calf muscle overload. A mild case usually requires one to two weeks, so he could be in contention to face Deportivo Riestra.
Zeballos suffered a shoulder contusion from a blow, a soft-tissue injury that can cause pain, swelling and bruising. It typically settles with rest, ice and painkillers, with a similar one to two week timeline.
The next hours will be key in determining whether the pair are available for the first official match of the year. Boca host Riestra on Sunday 25 at 18:30 at La Bombonera.
The squad were given Monday off and will resume training on Tuesday to prepare for the Torneo Apertura 2026 under Claudio Úbeda. Both had been set for starting roles, and team selection will hinge on their recovery after two pre-season friendlies, the other finishing 0-0 against Millonarios.
