Boca on alert: Leandro Paredes left out of the squad

Boca Juniors received good news just days before the Superclásico against River Plate and in the midst of the final stage of the regular phase of the Torneo Clausura. It was the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia, who confirmed that Leandro Paredes will not be called up for the Argentine National Team's tour.

The Albiceleste team will play a friendly during the November FIFA date and will do so without the Boca midfielder. This will happen after the request from the Association's president to the head coach, Lionel Scaloni, not to call up players who are in the defining stage of the local championship.

Paredes will not travel to Angola.

As previously reported by this outlet, the head coach of the Argentine National Team will not call up Leandro Paredes nor other players who play locally and are regulars in the squad. This way, the midfielder and Boca captain will be rested to play in the Superclásico and subsequently the match against Tigre.

Tapia confirmed that Leandro Paredes will not be called up to the National Team

“The schedule was set. We talked with ‘Gringo’ Scaloni, our coach, about the possibility of not calling up players from Argentine teams that on Sunday have possibilities or are defining sports situations, to give priority to the teams that have them,” commented Chiqui Tapia.

Additionally, in the press conference before the Superclásico, the AFA president emphasized: “I really believe that it is also about giving the importance that Argentine football deserves, surely it will mean a lot. Because we all want to have the greatest representation next year and compete in the best way in the competitions we face.”
