Boca made it two wins from two in the 2025 Copa Libertadores, beating Barcelona of Ecuador 3-0 at La Bombonera to stay top of their group ahead of Cruzeiro versus Universidad Católica in Brazil.
Goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín lasted only 10 minutes, going off in tears with a knee problem after appearing to tell team-mates he had broken something. Leandro Brey replaced him and enjoyed a largely quiet evening, looking safer under high balls than in his distribution. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca then took control after a slow start.
Lautaro Di Lollo headed the opener, meeting a pinpoint cross from Lautaro Blanco, and the left-back supplied again from near the byline for Santiago Ascacíbar to make it two. Ander Herrera sealed the result late on with a spectacular strike, his first for the club.
Ascacíbar was named the standout performer with a rating of nine, box-to-box and ever present. Leandro Paredes earned eight for dictating the tempo, while Di Lollo also took eight after dominating both boxes. Ayrton Costa, Blanco and Milton Delgado each received seven for assured displays.
Marcelo Weigandt and Tomás Aranda were marked at five, Adam Bareiro six after a physical shift, and Miguel Merentiel five having missed chances. Coach Claudio Úbeda was given seven for a sound plan and well-timed changes. Next is the Superclásico at the Monumental, a chance to further repair ties with the fans.
