Boca left La Plata empty-handed after a 2-1 defeat to Estudiantes de La Plata, the most recent Argentine champions, at Estadio Uno in the second round of the Torneo Apertura.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Claudio Úbeda’s side delivered a forgettable display, with only the introductions and debuts of some youngsters offering any positives.
Agustín Marchesín, rated two, was held largely responsible for the opener and might also have done better on the second. Ayrton Costa received one after losing his markers for both goals and conceding a penalty later cancelled for a prior Piovi handball. Juan Barinaga scored three, limited going forward, while Lautaro Di Lollo, five, coped best at the back.
Williams Alarcón, two, struggled to replace Ander Herrera and forced Leandro Paredes, four, to play deeper. Tomás Belmonte, three, was committed but erratic. Kevin Zenón, three, drifted out of the game, and Iker Zufiaurre, four, worked hard out of position without support.
Exequiel Zeballos, five, pulled one back and kept trying to ignite the attack. Debutant Gonzalo Gelini, six, pressed well and set up Zeballos with a diving header. Fellow debutant Tomás Aranda, six, showed confidence in brief first senior minutes.
Lautaro Blanco, four, delivered by volume rather than craft and was shaky defensively. Ander Herrera, five, steadied things off the bench. Claudio Úbeda was marked down as one, with Eduardo Domínguez seen to have outmanoeuvred him tactically, changes arriving too late and an over-reliance on the left flank.
