Boca receive formal Houston Dynamo offer for Marcelo Saracchi | OneFootball

Boca have received a formal offer for Marcelo Saracchi, who is not in Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s plans, with a move viewed as helpful to streamline the squad.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Houston Dynamo have bid slightly over one million dollars for 60% of the Uruguayan left-back’s rights, an amount the board currently deems insufficient.

Saracchi returned around a month ago after his loan at Celtic ended. He made 27 appearances with one goal and two assists, lifting a domestic title, but the option was not exercised.

On his return he was told by Vasco Arruabarrena he would not be considered for official competition. Boca are covered at left-back with Lautaro Blanco as starter and Malcom Braida as back-up.

His last competitive match for Boca was the 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup group stage. He then lost ground under Miguel Ángel Russo, leaving him on 52 games and four goals.

Houston finished fifth in the Western Conference. Boca aim to free a foreign slot yet maintain asset value, and would give the green light quickly if the MLS franchise increase their offer.

For now Saracchi is training separately at Boca Predio while talks continue. With no scope for a second spell, the next hours are seen as decisive, and the board are confident of completing a deal as they close a window that has added Leandro Lozano, Álvaro Montero and Sebastián Villa.
