Boca to shuffle lineup: Ascacíbar, Romero to start v Newell's

Boca trained this morning with Sunday’s match against Newell’s in mind. The team’s head coach, Claudio Úbeda, tried out Santiago Ascacíbar and Ángel Romero as starters, and that’s how they would play at La Bombonera.

This Friday morning’s practice at the Ezeiza training ground brought several updates. The first has to do with the trial run by Sifón Úbeda, including the new signings in the starting lineup he set up during the football drill.

The coach is changing the team again.

Agustín Marchesín was in goal and nothing changed in defense, despite the irregular match they had against Estudiantes. Juan Barinaga and Lautaro Blanco played on the flanks, and the central defensive duo that has become customary for Xeneize with Lautaro Di Lollo and Ayrton Costa.

Changes started to appear in midfield. Santiago Ascacíbar was positioned on one side and Ander Herrera on the other, while the team’s main reference and captain, Leandro Paredes, was in the center of the field.

There were also changes up front because Ángel Romero was the number nine, accompanied by Kevin Zenón and Exequiel Zeballos as the two wingers. This results in three changes if this lineup does indeed start the match.

The 3 changes for Boca

Barring any issues or last-minute changes, this is the team that will start Sunday’s match, which kicks off at 19:15 at La Bombonera, with Newell’s Old Boys from Rosario as the opponent.

Xeneize will not repeat the same starting eleven that began against Estudiantes.

Ruso Ascacíbar will take the place of Tomás Belmonte, Ander Herrera regains his spot in the starting eleven for Williams Alarcón, who replaced him against Estudiantes, and up front, the Paraguayan Romero would play instead of Iker Zufiaurre.
