Boca's 7 injured players set to miss the O'Higgins match

The situation at Boca became extremely complicated just hours before returning to continental competition after a worrying list of players sidelined by physical issues was confirmed. The coaching staff will have to reshape the team’s structure for the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 32 at La Bombonera.

The Boca squad’s infirmary added three new names during the start of the week of training in Ezeiza, bringing the number of ruled-out players to seven. The recent absences of Milton Giménez, Carlos Palacios, and Leandro Lozano set off alarm bells among the medical staff and affected the makeup of the starting eleven.

The Uruguayan full-back was going to start against O'Higgins, and now Vasco Arruabarrena has to decide who will fill that vacant spot on the field. It will probably be Dylan Gorosito who gets the nod. The other two were set to be on the bench.

Boca begins the round of 32 series.

Also added to those already mentioned are Adam Bareiro and Tomás Belmonte. The Paraguayan forward had recovered from a double muscle tear and then suffered an injury in the lumbar area, for which he underwent a block to ease the pain. The midfielder suffered an ankle sprain.

Both continue with their recovery stages after suffering significant injuries, depriving the blue and gold club of two highly experienced pieces.

The club from La Ribera will take on this Thursday’s match at 9:30 p.m. at La Bombonera with the mission of putting this adverse scenario aside and getting off on the right foot in the 2026 Copa Sudamericana round of 32 series.
