Aston Villa will entertain Red Bull Salzburg at Villa Park this Thursday night as they look to secure a good result at home in the UEFA Europa League. The Villans managed to earn a solid 2-0 win away at Newcastle United recently, so they would be full of confidence going into this game.

Unai Emery will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make one change to his first XI for this clash. Lamare Bogarde could play from the start of this game, while Amadou Onana makes way for him and drops to the bench.

Defence

Emiliano Martinez will feature in between the sticks for the Villans after he kept a clean sheet in his last outing. Pau Torres will function alongside Ezri Konsa at the heart of the Aston Villa backline as they look to keep a solid shape on the defensive end of the field.

Matty Cash will try to catch the eye as the right-back, while Ian Maatsen hopes to prove his worth on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will look to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Victor Lindelof and Tyrone Mings will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Lamare Bogarde and Youri Tielemans will anchor the midfield for Aston Villa as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park and engineering some decent chances for their teammates in the final third.

The talented trio of Emi Buendia, Morgan Rogers and Jadon Sancho will play just ahead of them as part of the Aston Villa attack. All three of them need to be at their best if the Villans are to come out on top this Thursday night.

Amadou Onana and Evann Guessand will have to settle for a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Ollie Watkins will lead the charge for the West Midlands club up top. He has to find a way to be a constant menace in the final third.

Leon Bailey will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages of the game if the Villans are in need of a goal by then.
