Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has revealed that he is hoping to include Jayden Bogle and Oli McBurnie in the club’s match-day squad for their showdown with Swansea City.

McBurnie was left out of the side for the Blades’ meeting with Wrexham earlier this week as Heckingbottom refused to take a risk on him in this FA Cup fixture.

As for Bogle, he was suspended for this aforementioned clash after being shown a yellow card in each of the club’s two previous games in this particular competition.

Unable to turn to Bogle for inspiration, Heckingbottom decided to use Chris Basham in the right-wing back role against Wrexham.

Whereas McBurnie and Bogle could both potentially be selected to feature against Swansea, Tommy Doyle is facing a race to be available due to the fact that he did not train with the rest of his team-mates yesterday.

Doyle will only be involved this weekend if he trains today.

Currently 10 points clear of Middlesbrough who occupy third place in the league standings, the Blades will be hoping to extend this particular gap tomorrow by defeating Swansea.

Ahead of this fixture, Heckingbottom has issued an update on Bogle, McBurnie and Doyle.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (as cited by Yorkshire Live) about Bogle and McBurnie, the Blades boss said: “Bogle is back available and we can add him into that group and hopefully Oli into that group.”

Making reference to Doyle, Heckingbottom added: “[He] didn’t train with the group.

“He is doing extra little bits, we’ll see about him tomorrow [today] but he will have to train if he wants to be involved.”

The Verdict

While being able to call upon the services of Bogle and McBurnie tomorrow will be a boost for the Blades, they will also be hoping that Doyle will be available by passing a late fitness test.

Bogle has scored three goals for the Blades in all competitions this season and will fancy his chances of producing an eye-catching display against Swansea as he is currently averaging a relatively impressive WhoScored match rating of 6.93 in the Championship.

As for McBurnie, he will be keen to find the back of the net against his former side after being forced to watch on from the sidelines in midweek.

Doyle meanwhile may have to wait until the club’s clash with Middlesbrough on February 15th to make his return to action.

Having made 19 league appearances for the Blades this season, the midfielder will be confident in his ability to make a difference at this level during the closing stages of the term as his side aim to secure a return to the top-flight.
