Bologna Fire Coach Tedesco and Appoint Palladino | OneFootball

Bologna have opted for the second coaching change already in the young Serie A season, as they have dismissed Domenico Tedesco and brought in Raffaele Palladino. The Rossoblù have collected just one point through four matches, Corriere dello Sport reports.

The Felsinei initially leaked that the upcoming clash with Torino would have been decisive. Then, the situation escalated, and they decided to pull the plug immediately rather than waste time. Recent meetings with the manager didn’t lead officials to believe the turnaround would be quick.

Bologna had been chasing after Tedesco for months before appointing him, but his style has left to be desired, while Palladino was let go by Atalanta at the end of the past campaign amid a front-office shakeup. He also helmed Fiorentina and Monza in the past. He had finished 6th with the Viola and 7th with La Dea.

The Rossoblù lost several linchpins in the summer, Jhon Lucumi, Remo Freuler, Jonathan Rowe, and Santiago Castro, replacing them mostly with gambles or reclamation projects. Owner Joey Saputo ordered the management to refill the coffers through sales after missing out on any continental competition.

Their play has been uninspiring and devoid of energy so far, but it’s still a harsh decision, considering that their overhaul made the squad decidedly worse. They should have gone with an up-and-comer if that was the plan. The free-agent coaches must be in high demand if a couple of teams have already decided to go for it. The new boss did great at Monza and Fiorentina, not so much at Atalanta, but he’s a strong choice for their new reality.
