Bologna striker Santiago Castro has warned AC Milan to expect a difficult game when they make the trip there next week.
As a reminder, the game between Bologna and Milan was originally scheduled for the end of October at the Stadio Renato dall’Ara, then on the eve of the fixture the idea emerged that it might be postponed due to adverse weather in the region.
Throughout the day various ideas emerged such as playing the match behind closed doors or moving it to a neutral venue, and at one point Milan had plans in place for four different trips to four different cities.
However, in the end the decision was made to postpone the game, which certainly raised some eyebrows. Due to the fixture congestion, it has had to be moved four months down the line to the end of February.
Castro was interviewed by the Bologna-based interview Il Resto del Carlino and he spoke about the eliminations of Milan and Atalanta in the Champions League, then returning to the Rossoneri in view of Thursday’s meeting.
“In the Champions League we supported the Italian clubs, also for ranking reasons. The play-offs were within our reach: we’d have competed with Feyenoord and Brugge. In Europe we played high-level games,” he said (via MilanPress).
“I didn’t know [Santiago] Gimenez before, but he’s very strong. It will be a great match against Milan, and they will also have to be careful, at our home we are difficult to face. We will experience it as if it were a Champions League challenge.”
