Josep Martinez will replace Yann Sommer in goal when Inter Milan face Bologna in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-finals on Friday.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Spaniard is set to return between the sticks for the second time since the accident.

Josep Martinez was involved in a fatal car crash in October, which resulted in a tragic loss of life.

Though the 27-year-old is still waiting for the verdict, he featured in Inter’s Coppa Italia clash against Venezia earlier this month.

However, it was only his third competitive appearance this season.

Cristian Chivu has stuck with Sommer as his first-choice goalkeeper.

Despite several underwhelming performances in high-stakes duels, the Swiss veteran remains Inter’s starting shot-stopper.

Yet, the former Bayern Munich star will make way for Martinez tomorrow night.

Martinez’s return between the sticks will be one of the several starting lineup changes.

Indeed, Chivu is reportedly planning to rest Alessandro Bastoni, with Carlos Augusto expected to take his place at the back.
