An Internacional fan has contributed R$1 million (€150,000) in order to allow Rodinei to play against his parent club Flamengo in Sunday’s potential Brasileirão title decider.
The right-back joined Inter on loan from the Rubro-Negro in December 2019, with a reported option to buy of €4m.
However, it seems the deal also included a clause that allowed the 29-year-old to face Fla, but only if Inter stumped up.
Thanks to an affluent supporter, they are now in a position to do so.
A statement on the Porto Alegre side’s social media accounts read: “Internacional reports that it received this Friday (February 19) a donation of R $ 1 million from Elusmar Maggi Scheffer. The colorado fan, resident of Cuiabá-MT, signed the term that passes the amount to the Club without any kind of counterpart. Our most sincere thanks!”
Internacional travel to the Maracanã on Sunday one point ahead of the Mengão with just two games to play.
Therefore, victory at the famous Rio de Janeiro venue would clinch the title for Abel Braga’s men.
Rodenei has made 22 league appearances this season, and you would imagine is now a certain starter for Sunday’s crunch clash.
We hope he doesn’t make a plonker of himself!
