Gabriel Bontempo and Rollheiser led Santos to a win over Cruzeiro in the 27th round of the Brasileirão. According to Globo.com, the pair topped the player ratings after standout displays.
Rollheiser was alert to a rebound from a Cebolinha shot to open the scoring. Bontempo later helped create the second when Fabrício Bruno put through his own net, with Rony, on for Gabigol, starting the move and Rodinei supplying the final ball. Matheus Pereira also found the net for Cruzeiro.
Captain Willian Arão impressed as a centre-back and Luan Peres produced key interventions while joining attacks. Gustavo Henrique’s positioning underpinned possession, and João Schmidt threatened from range but was rash with fouls. Igor Vinícius recovered from an early error and improved once shifted to left-back.
Rodinei added thrust down the right and lifted a flank that had struggled of late. Everton’s debut was lively but Otávio denied him, and Thaciano drew a fine save with a header. Oliva and Lima injected energy, Oliva going close from the edge of the box, while Miguelito had a quiet outing.
Gabriel Brazão had little to do yet excelled when called upon, notably diverting one Matheus Pereira attempt, and he was blameless for the goal. Arthur Melo replaced a tiring Rollheiser and continued his steady return towards full rhythm. Cuca’s switch to a back three, effectively a 3-6-1 with a packed midfield, limited Pereira’s space and left Cruzeiro leaning on Arroyo’s individual bursts.
