Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton.
According to The Sun, Wharton is ready to leave the Eagles in the summer and wants to join a Champions League club.
The Red Devils have seen a resurgence in form under Michael Carrick, and are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
With seven games remaining in the season, United are third in the table with six points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool.
The Manchester titans are prioritising midfield additions in the next transfer window. Casemiro has already announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, while Manuel Ugarte is expected to be sold.
United have identified Wharton as a key target, alongside Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Carlos Baleba.
The 22-year-old has recently emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
He has hit the ground running since joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers in 2024.
The England international has made 84 appearances across all competitions for his London team, with 12 assists to his name.
The midfielder started in Palace’s FA Cup final victory against Manchester City last year, and he has also been a key fixture of the first-team this season.
Wharton is a technically gifted playmaker who is highly rated for his composure, progressive passing and defensive work-rate.
He is very young and has already proven his abilities in the Premier League.
But with his contract not expiring until 2029, Palace are expected to demand a hefty fee for a transfer in the next window.
