Borges header lifts Estrela Amadora up the table

Estrela Amadora beat Santa Clara 1-0 at Estádio José Gomes to rise from 14th to 11th in Liga Portugal.

After the interval, Estrela introduced Ianis Stoica and Sydney Van Hooijdonk, and Marcus then rattled the right upright (49.).

Jovane Borges settled it with a glancing header from Jefferson Encada's cross (59.).

Renan Ribeiro preserved the lead with sharp stops as Santa Clara pushed, parrying Goncalo Paciencia's low effort (68.) and tipping away Frederico Venancio's header (82.).

Estrela Amadora registered 12 attempts and three corners as they leant on deliveries from wide. Santa Clara produced 17 attempts and six corners but lacked composure in front of goal.
