Speaking to Bild, Borna Sosa opened up about his future and why his move to Bayer Leverkusen in the winter was not completed.
Leverkusen had a bid of €10m rejected for the Croatian international as they looked to boost their left-back options. On the failed move Sosa said: “Every player sets himself goals in his career and I want to play in a European team if possible. But the move to Leverkusen didn’t work out and that’s the end of the matter. I feel very comfortable at VfB, I’ve been here for almost five years. I want to help achieve our goals. The fact that I stayed in Stuttgart is not a problem for me.”
Sosa’s former teammate Saša Kalajdžić left for the Premier League in the summer, the 25-year-old was asked if he sees a move to England in his future as well: “Like many players, I dream of playing in the Premier League one day. This is the strongest league in the world. It’s not just the big six top clubs, the other teams are strong too. And if I could play there in a team with Sasa, then all the better.”
The 25-year-old joined VfB Stuttgart in 2018 from Dinamo Zagreb for €6m. This season has seen him play a key role for Croatia as they finished third at the World Cup in Qatar. While he also has scored once and assisted six times for VfB as they fight relegation.
Stuttgart won their first game since November with a 3-0 win at home against 1.FC Köln today with goals from Sosa, Gil Dias and Tanguy Coulibaly. VfB have now lifted themselves out of the relegation zone into 14th above Hoffenheim and Bochum.
