Konstantinos Karetsas has enjoyed a strong start to his Borussia Dortmund career, having created one goal in 164 Bundesliga minutes and now club bosses, according to Sky Germany, have made a request to the Greek FA regarding the player’s involvement against Germany.

The 18-year-old has started all three of Greece’s UEFA Nations League fixtures, which has prompted BVB’s management to contact the Greek Football Federation, requesting that Karetsas – having only recently recovered from an injury – to be used sparingly because of the heavy workload in recent weeks, while keeping in mind Die Schwarzgelben’s Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen on 9 October.

Sky Germany cite Greek media suggesting that Karetsas will start again and while Dortmund are aware of the youngster’s importance to the national team, they’ll be hoping to safeguard their rising star with fellow Greece international Giannis Konstantelias sidelined with an ACL injury sustained against Hamburg on Matchday 1.
