Borussia Dortmund marked the final home outing for Sebastian Kehl, Julian Brandt, Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan with tributes on Friday.

Brandt captained the side for a final time, with Süle and Özcan introduced late on. Süle announced his retirement the day before and will hang up his boots after the season finale away to Werder Bremen.

Kehl, a former Dortmund midfielder, has served the club in various roles for more than two decades. Dortmund are expected to pay between €1.5 million and €2 million to terminate the 46-year-old’s contract.

Stadium announcer Nobby Dickel hailed Kehl’s devotion to the black and yellow. He described Brandt as among the most technical players seen at the club in recent years and praised Süle’s force, passion and resilience after injuries. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen midfielder featured in more than 300 games for Dortmund.

Dickel also lauded Özcan as a hard-working, combative presence. The Türkiye international could stay in the Bundesliga, with several clubs showing interest despite his unsuccessful spell in Dortmund.

Kehl and the three players shared a final ovation with supporters in front of the Yellow Wall.
