Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho for a third time.
Sancho has become a thorn in United’s side, as the club’s hierarchy face the prospect of another summer of finding a suitor for their out-of-favour winger.
The Englishman had the opportunity to extend his stay at Chelsea, but he refused to accept their contract offer, leading to the Blues deciding against taking up the obligation to buy him permanently. He has now returned to United.
Ruben Amorim has no desire to hand Sancho a chance to prove his worth to United, who are keen to offload him this summer. He has 12 months remaining on his alleged £300,000 per week contract.
According to Sky Sports, United are expecting offers “with the preference for all parties thought to be a permanent move.”
Dortmund are understood to be one of a number of clubs interested in signing Sancho.
It is claimed the Bundesliga outfit have asked to be kept “up to date with developments” on the 25-year-old’s future.
BVB are exploring the market for a new left winger with Jamie Gittens attracting strong interest from Chelsea.
Dortmund first signed Sancho as a teenage prospect from Manchester City before selling him to United for £73 million in July 2021. The England international returned to Signal Iduna Park in the second half of the 2023/24 season after his public fallout with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho impressed during his second stint in Germany and played a key role in his side reaching the Champions League final. Despite his exploits, Dortmund didn’t agree to meet financial demands to retain his services.
As such, it remains to be seen if they will come anywhere near Sancho’s current salary to sign him for the third time. The outlet suggest that another loan cannot be ruled out given the player’s wages.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United could consider ripping up his contract by agreeing to a settlement.
