Borussia Dortmund’s Almugera Kabar (20) set for Dutch loan | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund defensive prospect Almugera Kabar is reportedly closing in on a loan move to the Netherlands following several weeks of negotiations. According to the local Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper, the 20-year-old is poised to leave Dortmund temporarily and could even have the opportunity to play Champions League football with his prospective new club. Further details regarding the destination and structure of the loan have yet to emerge.

A temporary departure would nevertheless represent the latest attempt to secure regular senior football for a player once considered one of Dortmund’s brightest defensive prospects.

Get German Football News covered Kabar signing his first professional Dortmund contract through 2028 in February 2025. Foreign interest subsequently intensified. GGFN reported in September that Brentford were prepared to value Kabar at approximately €20m despite the youngster having accumulated only 135 Bundesliga minutes.

Kabar eventually slipped out of Niko Kovac’s first-team plans and spent much of last season with Dortmund’s reserves. He nevertheless produced four goals and one assist across 10 Regionalliga appearances during a productive autumn.

A January move to Hamburg subsequently appeared close.  Kabar had been convinced by Merlin Polzin’s Hamburg project and was expected to arrive on loan with a potential purchase option. That transfer ultimately collapsed following differing assessments of Kabar’s fitness. Crucially, the defender did not officially fail his medical.

A Netherlands loan now appears capable of finally providing the talented defender with the developmental locale Dortmund have sought for some time.
