Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Union Berlin, Nico Schlotterbeck is expected to make a decision on his future imminently.
Discussions between Dortmund and Schlotterbeck’s representatives are ongoing to extend the player’s contract beyond 2027, with a decision expected imminently.
“I’ve set a personal deadline for myself,” said the 26-year-old.
“I won’t say when it is. Definitely before the summer, though.”
Bayern Munich appear to have pulled out of the race to sign the German defender, with Dayot Upamecano close to extending his contract beyond the summer, while Kim Min-jae is reportedly happy to remain at Germany’s record champions.
Additionally, it is entirely possible that Schlotterbeck will extend his stay at the Signal Iduna Park.
“I feel comfortable here,” he added.
“It won’t be an easy decision. I’m a gut-feeling kind of guy. I’ll sit down with Dad and [brother] Keven and then make a decision. I don’t quite know right now how it’ll turn out.”
