Speaking at his pre-match press conference (via @bvbnewsblog) ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s opening game against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, head coach Nuri Sahin hinted at more movement in the transfer market.

The game on Saturday will be Sahin’s first official game as Dortmund’s head coach at Signal Iduna Park, on how he is feeling ahead of the opening game, the former midfielder said:

“It’s going to be a very special day. I’m looking forward to it like a little kid. It’s also my daughter’s birthday on Saturday.”

Sahin then added:

“We’re ready, the boys know what it’s all about. We’ve worked on the topics that are important for Frankfurt and we’re one week further along in our development.”

Dortmund have already had a busy transfer window with the arrivals of Serhou Guirassy, Waldemar Anton, Pascal Groß, Yan Couto and Maximilian Beier all joining the club. However, Sahin did hint at more movement in the transfer market for Dortmund, most likely with departures:

“I’m very happy with the squad, it was a top job by the bosses. We’ve already taken a big step for the first transition period of our re-build. I think that something will happen on the transfer side and it’s clear that it will be difficult for some players.”

Finally, the former Dortmund midfielder then gave a fitness update on the squad:

“Apart from Serhou Guirassy, everyone is fit and Gregor Kobel has also returned to full training with us. Serhou is in recovery training, which is already looking very good. We’re looking forward to him.”

Despite reaching the Champions League final last season, Dortmund’s league season was underwhelming as they finished fifth and only qualified for the Champions League this season because of the achievements of others in Europe. On top of this, the football Dortmund were playing was boring and even the players were not happy with the style of play that Terzic implemented.

For Sahin, a move back to attacking attractive football and a finish in the top four for Dortmund would likely be a success, but with the money they have spent this summer, they should be challenging for the title come the Spring of next year.
