Sky Germany reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach are considering a transfer for Cincinnati FC striker Brandon Vazquez.
Talks between Gladbach and Cincinnati are ongoing but difficult. This is because Cincinnati want between €8-10m for the 24-year-old, which Gladbach see as too expensive. Vazquez’s current contract in the US expires in 2025.
Gladbach have been monitoring for a while. It has previously been reported that sporting director Roland Virkus travelled to the US last season to watch the Vazquez.
This season, Vazquez has played 20 times for Cincinnati scoring only six goals. While the 24-year-old has also been playing for the US national team at the Gold Cup where he has performed scoring three times in four games for the USMNT.
Gladbach are continuing to rebuild their attack due to the departures of Marcus Thuram, Lars Stindl and Jonas Hofmann this summer. The club have made two attacking signings with Grant-Leon Ranos (Bayern Munich) and Robin Hack (Arminia Bielefeld) having already joined the club. While Gladbach are also set to complete the signing of Franck Honorat from Stade Brest in France.
