With Tim Kleindienst not expected to return to training until mid-September at the earliest due to a meniscus injury, Borussia Mönchengladbach are working on signing a replacement.
As reported by Sky Germany, Freiburg attacker Michael Gregoritsch is a candidate for the Foals. Talks have already taken place and the 31-year-old Austria international is considering a departure from the Baden-Württemberg club despite qualifying for European football.
Gregoritsch scored two goals and provided one assist in 631 minutes of Bundesliga football last season, but found himself a bit-part player under Julian Schuster. A move to Gladbach would add depth to their attack as they themselves prepare for the likely departure of Alassane Pléa, who himself is entering the final 12 months of his current deal.
But Gregoritsch isn’t the only player that Gladbach are monitoring. Roland Virkus has also identified Union Berlin’s Benedict Hollerbach but will also face competition from Mainz 05 to sign the German attacker.
