Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano both report that Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné will join Serie A side AS Roma.
The midfielder will travel today to the Italian capital to for his medical this afternoon and finalise a deal that is worth a total of €20-25m and he will also sign a contract at the club until 2029. AC Milan had also shown an interest in the 23-year-old.
Koné’s departure brings to an end a three-year spell at Gladbach which started off strongly but after his first season at the club, the 23-year-old struggled, along with the rest of the side, to replicate his early form. Gladbach does not need to find a replacement for Koné as they are well-stacked in midfield after the arrivals of Kevin Stöger and Philipp Sander this summer.
However, the money from the Koné deal now means that Gladbach can fund their continued rebuild in January as well as next summer.
