Borussia Mönchengladbach have parted company with head coach Eugen Polanski with immediate effect.

According to BuLi News, assistant coach Tobias Trulsen has also been relieved of his duties after rumours of a split earlier this morning.

Defeats to RB Leipzig 3-0 and SV Elversberg 4-3, followed by yesterday's 5-0 hammering at SC Freiburg, appeared to be the final straw.

Polanski, a former Polish midfielder who previously played for Gladbach, was appointed in November 2025 and the 40-year-old oversaw 29 matches.

With one game remaining against Mainz before the international break, Jan-Moritz Lichte will take charge on an interim basis.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder said there had been positives in pre-season, but Bundesliga results did not meet expectations, and recent displays prompted the change. He thanked Polanski and Trulsen for their commitment, describing Polanski as devoted to the club.

Polanski expressed regret that he could not deliver more for the Rhinelanders, saying the outcome hurt at a club he considers his own.
