Bayern Munich extended their perfect run to 13 games in all competitions after beating bottom-placed Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 at Borussia Park on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon.
Vincent Kompany’s side have now won eight games in a row in the Bundesliga, setting up a new record.
The home side were reduced to ten men within 20 minutes, but Bayern had to work hard to break their resilience.

Fresh from winning 4-0 in the midweek against Club Brugge, Bayern nearly made a dream start when Harry Kane found Luis Diaz in the box with an excellent delivery. However, the Colombian could not convert from close range.
The hosts suffered a big blow after Jens Castrop was shown the marching orders for a reckless challenge on Diaz.
Bayern completely dominated possession, but they struggled to create chances against a low-block system that defended deep.
In the 34th minute, Nicolas Jackson was put on through by Michael Olise, but he could not dink past the Gladbach keeper, Mortiz Nicolas.
Towards the end of the first half, Bayern created three fantastic chances. Olise found Diaz in a bit of space, and the Colombian did well to pick Kane unmarked in the box. The England skipper could not connect with his shot and made a tame effort, which the keeper saved.
Moments later, Tom Bischof had a crack on goal with his left foot, but Nicolas was equal to the task and ensured the scoreline remained 0-0 at the break.
At the break, Vincent Kompany made two changes: Raphael Guerreiro and Konrad Laimer came for Dayot Upamecano and Sacha Boey.
In the 47th minute, Olise struck cleanly with his left foot, but it sailed over the bar. Moments later, from a dangerous Bayern attack, Diaz found Olise unmarked in the box.
The Frenchman struck fiercely with his right foot, which was saved on the goalline, and on the rebound he tried to steer it with his left foot – this time saved by the keeper.
Diaz, arguably the best player on the pitch tonight, worked with Guerreiro and created space for himself to have a shot on goal. He managed to strike cleanly, but straight at the keeper.
Bayern finally got the breakthrough in the 64th minute after Joshua Kimmich curled his effort with his left foot, after the initial attempt was blocked.
Bischof then tried a long-range effort with his left foot after a dazzling bit of footwork from Olise, but could not keep it on target.
The Bavarian giants doubled the lead through Guerreiro, who slotted home from close range after a magnificent pass from Olise.
Monchengladbach got a lifeline to come back strongly into the game as the referee awarded them a penalty after Tom Bischof was found guilty of fouling Kevin Diks inside the box.
Kevin Stoger, very reliable with his spot kick, managed to hit the post. It reflects why Gladbach are at the bottom of the league.
Bayern made it 3-0 through Lennart Karl, who scored another top-quality goal with his left foot. He cut inside from the right and curled it into the far corner – what a week for him!
It was the youngster’s first Bundesliga goal, after he scored one in midweek in the Champions League.
Karl nearly scored another with a header moments later, but Nicolas prevented the danger.
Here at CF Bayern Insider, we have rated the players out of 10.
Jonas Urbig (7) – Urbig hardly put a foot wrong in his audition to become a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer. He was not tested enough as the home side went down to ten men.
Sacha Boey (6) – The right-back was taken off at the break as Kompany made a tactical switch. Did not make a significant impact in the first half.
Dayot Upamecano (6) – The Frenchman was also taken off at the break, probably due to an injury caution.
Kim Min-jae (7) – The South Korean made one interception and two clearances in a solid defensive display, although Gladbach did not create enough chances.
Tom Bischof (6) – The youngster did admirably well playing as a left-back and made several efforts on goal. However, a mistake from him earned Gladbach a penalty. It could have been costly, but luckily, Kevin Stoger couldn’t convert.
Joshua Kimmich (8) – Terrific. Kimmich scored one, and two of his other shots were blocked. He bossed the midfield with 107 accurate passes with 96% accuracy. When Bayern needed a moment of inspiration, he stepped up yet again.
Leon Goretzka (6) – Improved in the second half and kept tidy possessions. He made 137 passes and put in a defensive shift with one tackle and four recoveries.
Michael Olise (8) – That pass to Guerreiro. And that pass alone proves his class. It is no surprise that Bayern want to tie him up on a long-term deal.
Luis Diaz (7) – Worked incredibly hard and should have scored the opening goal inside the 1st minute. Another solid performance from the Colombian.
Nicolas Jackson (3) – Passenger. The on-loan striker from Chelsea failed to make an impact yet again. Taken off at the hour mark.
Harry Kane (7) – A goal was rightly ruled offside, and apart from that, Kane was kept relatively quiet, which surprises us given the high standards he sets for himself.
Raphaël Guerreiro – 6
Konrad Laimer – 6
Serge Gnabry – 6
Lennart Karl – 7
