Manchester United won’t be signing Borussia Monchengladbach prospect Winsley Boteli this summer.

The Reds were linked with a move for the 17-year-old, as per Bild, after scoring 21 goals in the U19 Bundesliga West last season.

As reported by the German outlet, Ten Hag’s coach Mitchell van der Gaag has done his bit to make his first steps in potentially getting a deal over the line by approaching Boteli’s agent Christopher Mandiangu.

Bild states: “If Man United really gets serious in the next few days, Gladbach will no longer have a good hand in the Boteli poker game – the club cannot compete with the European heavyweight either in sporting or financial terms.”

Boteli, who plays for Switzerland’s U18s, has also been linked with Serie A giants Juventus – but he is set to remain at Monchengladbach.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Boteli won’t be joining United despite recent links as he’s set to sign a new contract at Monchengladbach.

The reporter claims there is an agreement with the German club for the young talented striker to sign this week.

Boteli may be a player to keep an eye on next season.
