Defender has recently joined from AC Milan in a transfer worth £17million
Screenshots shared on social media on Thursday allegedly show Jimenez talking to a girl who identifies as being under the age of 18.
Further screenshots appear to show the Spain Under-21s player sending a photo of himself to the teenager.
The Premier League club confirmed on Friday that Jimenez would not be part of the squad for Saturday’s trip to Fulham.
“AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Alex Jimenez,” a club statement read.
“The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated.
“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Jimenez, who turned 21 on Friday, has made 32 appearances for Bournemouth this season, including starting the last five Premier League games.
The defender joined on loan from AC Milan last summer, and made the move permanent in February for a reported fee of £7million.
Jimenez had previously spent time with the Real Madrid academy.
