Bournemouth have made a formal bid to sign Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi as they look to strengthen their defence.
Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, but Bournemouth are pushing hard to finalise a deal swiftly.
Lucumi enjoyed another strong campaign in Serie A and helped Bologna secure European qualification through their Coppa Italia triumph.
Known for his calmness on the ball and physical presence, Lucumi has adapted well to Italian football since arriving from Genk in 2022.
He has played under both Thiago Motta and Vincenzo Italiano, showing consistent form and tactical versatility.
Bournemouth are keen to act quickly to fend off rival interest. Their bid is seen as a proactive move to gain an edge in the transfer race, with the club eager to complete key business early in the window.
They are aware that Bologna are under no immediate pressure to sell. The Italian club’s place in the Europa League next season gives them a strong negotiating position.
Lucumi remains under contract in Italy, and while Bologna have not ruled out a sale, they are expected to hold firm unless an improved offer is made.
The Cherries’ current bid is considered an opening offer, with room for further negotiations.
Manager Andoni Iraola wants to add experience and composure to his back line, and Lucumi’s profile fits the club’s plans for a more solid defensive set-up.
His ability to play out from the back and read the game makes him a potentially valuable asset in the Premier League.
No agreement has been reached yet, but Bournemouth’s intent is clear. They want the deal wrapped up before pre-season preparations begin in earnest.
Lucumi has been capped multiple times by Colombia and was part of their squad during the 2024 Copa America.
His international pedigree and Serie A consistency have made him one of the more attractive centre-back options available this summer.
