According to NY Times, Bournemouth have rejected a Chelsea bid for Alex Scott and expect him to stay this summer. The midfielder has turned down a new contract, but his current deal runs to 2028.
Manchester United and Arsenal have shown interest. United have already signed Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea, yet still want a third midfielder after Casemiro left as a free agent. Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring Scott’s situation.
Scott featured in all but one of Bournemouth’s 38 Premier League games last season, scoring three goals and supplying one assist. Bournemouth finished sixth under Andoni Iraola, sealing Europa League football for the first time in the club’s history.
Iraola has left for Liverpool, with Marco Rose appointed as his successor.
He has not yet been capped by England, but was named in the squad for pre-World Cup friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica, alongside Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Ethan Nwaneri and Jason Steele, and was on the bench for both.
Born in Guernsey, he started with Guernsey FC in the eighth tier, joined Bristol City as a 16-year-old in 2020 and debuted the following year, making 91 appearances. Bournemouth signed him in August 2023 for a fee believed to be about £20million, and he has six goals and five assists in 89 appearances for the club.
