Bournemouth sign Uruguay striker Álvaro Rodríguez | OneFootball

Bournemouth have completed the signing of Uruguay striker Álvaro Rodríguez from La Liga side Elche for a reported £21 million, with additional bonuses and a sell-on clause included in the deal.

The 22-year-old striker has signed a long-term contract at the Vitality Stadium and becomes the Cherries' first signing of the summer under new head coach Marco Rose. 

Rodríguez arrives after an impressive campaign with Elche, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 34 league appearances. Among his highlights were goals against Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The forward came through Girona's academy before joining Real Madrid's famed La Fábrica setup in 2020, making his senior debut under Carlo Ancelotti three years later.

Bournemouth believe Rodríguez will add pace, energy and competition to their attacking options, with the club viewing him as an exciting long-term prospect rather than a replacement for highly-rated Eli Junior Kroupi.
