Bournemouth face a wait to learn if Lewis Cook will be fit to face Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime, after the midfielder missed the 0-0 draw at West Ham with a late hamstring issue.

Cook has been a mainstay for Andoni Iraola this season, starting five of the previous six Premier League games. As reported by Sunderland Echo, he felt the problem in training the day before the London Stadium fixture.

Iraola said the midfielder had not yet undergone an MRI and had not been fully assessed. He indicated it did not appear major, but believed there was a hamstring issue and the scan would clarify the extent.

With Sunderland travelling to the south coast in the coming days, Bournemouth must wait on the results to determine any absence. The head coach did not put a timescale on his return.

Cook featured in November at the Stadium of Light when Bournemouth surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2. He was then sent off in the 96th minute for violent conduct.
