Christos Mandas has reportedly agreed to join Bournemouth from Lazio, with talks ongoing to finalise the move.

La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that Mandas has agreed terms with the Cherries and that the clubs are negotiating an initial loan with an obligation to buy for €22-23 million. Ben Jacobs adds that the clause would be triggered if Bournemouth qualify for a European competition and the goalkeeper reaches a set number of appearances.

The Greek goalkeeper became Marco Baroni’s first choice for the second half of last season after displacing Ivan Provedel.

Following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival in the summer, the hierarchy was reversed, and Provedel has 10 clean sheets in 20 Serie A matches, conceding only 16 goals.

As a result, Mandas and Lazio decided to part. The 24-year-old wants more than an understudy role, while Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani are eyeing a capital gain on a player signed for €1 million in summer 2023.

The former OFI Crete player had been linked with Juventus, Genoa and Torino in recent weeks, but Bournemouth emerged as favourites in recent days.
