Chelsea missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table after being held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth. Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa at Saturday lunchtime handed the Blues a massive incentive ahead of kick-off at the Vitality Stadium.

Victory on the south coast of England, thus bouncing back from the midweek loss to Leeds, and the Blues would have been six points behind the leaders.
