Two sides looking to rebound from heavy weekend defeats clash on the South Coast on Tuesday night as Bournemouth host Everton at the Vitality Stadium.
Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth will be stinging after surrendering a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Sunderland on Saturday. Similarly, they welcome an Everton side brought back down to earth with a thumping 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle United.
Andoni Iraola is facing a suspension crisis ahead of this match. Specifically, three players are banned. Midfielder Lewis Cook serves the first of a three-match suspension after his red card at Sunderland. Furthermore, defender Marcos Senesi and David Brooks are also suspended due to accumulating five yellow cards. On a positive note, Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert have returned to fitness. Amine Adli, who scored his first goal for the club last weekend, is expected to start on the left wing.
David Moyes has confirmed no new injuries. However, he highlighted that players are carrying “minor niggles.” The Toffees remain without key midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who serves the second game of his suspension. In addition, the injury list remains lengthy. Seamus Coleman, Jarrad Branthwaite, Merlin Röhl, and Nathan Patterson all remain sidelined.
The Cherries are hitting a wobble at a crucial time. In fact, they have gone winless in their last four Premier League games. The collapse at Sunderland was particularly painful, as they squandered a dominant start. However, their home form remains a source of comfort. Bournemouth are unbeaten at the Vitality Stadium in the league this season. Indeed, they have turned their ground into a fortress, winning four of their six matches there.
Everton’s season remains volatile. The euphoria of their 1-0 win at Manchester United was instantly erased by the 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Newcastle. Currently, David Moyes’ side sit 13th, just one point behind Bournemouth. Crucially, their away form has been generally poor, with the win at Old Trafford being a rare bright spot.
AFC Bournemouth predicted XI: Petrovic; Jimenez, Diakite, Milosavljevic, Truffert; Adams, Scott; Semenyo, Kluivert, Adli; Kroupi
Everton predicted XI: Pickford; O’Brien, Keane, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Garner, Alcaraz; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Barry
