Bournemouth winger hoping to earn a spot in Ronald Koeman’s World Cup squad

With the World Cup just around the corner, players are now having to juggle their domestic clubs targets with trying to avoid any injuries that would cost them a spot in their national teams squads. One of these is Bournemouth winger Justin Kluivert. As reported by ESPN, the winger received some good news this week. His knee injury is recovering quicker than expected, opening up the possibility of a trip to the World Cup with the Netherlands.
The Bournemouth winger told ESPN ‘I received the good news that it is healing very well. They are very satisfied with what they see. They don’t often see that with such an injury. We are very happy with that‘. Kluivert picked up the injury at the beginning of January during Bournemouth’s clash with title chasing Arsenal. He has since returned to the training pitch and is now targeting a successful return to convince Ronald Koeman that he should be part of the squad that travels across the Atlantic for the World Cup.
After receiving the news that his return is progressing quicker than anticipated, Kluivert also revealed that he sent a message to Koeman to let him know. Kluivert will also hope that his form for Bournemouth over the past two seasons has convinced Koeman that he is worthy of a spot. During his first season at the club he played 36 games, scoring nine goals and providing two assists. However, it was the 2024/2025 season that was the 26-year-old’s best as a player. Kluviert scored 13 goals for Bournemouth in 39 games, while also providing eight assists. Te former Ajax winger has really found his home with Bournemouth, having played 94 games since joining in 2023, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists.
