Tottenham Hotspur are in poor form at the moment, and it is not a surprise that head coach Ange Postecoglou is looking for new players in the January transfer window.
Spurs have won only two of their last six Premier League matches. Tottenham have lost three of their past six league fixtures.
With the January transfer window opening in a matter of weeks, Tottenham have been linked with a number of players already.
Spurs have an eye on Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, while Nicolo Fagioli is also on the radar of Tottenham.
Another player Tottenham are interested in signing in the January transfer window is Leon Goretzka.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Tottenham want to secure the services of the Bayern Munich midfielder in the middle of the season.
Manchester United are also keen on Goretzka and so are Napoli, but, according to Plettenberg, the 29-year-old midfielder has decided to stay at Bayern.
Described as “a box-to-box player” who is “very strong on the run” and is “technically adept” by Bayern Sporting Director Christoph Freund in BuliNews in November 2023, Goretzka will complete the season at Bayern.
Plettenberg wrote on X: Leon #Goretzka has decided to stay at FC Bayern through the winter and complete the season with the club. Highly motivated, he remains valued by coach Vincent Kompany.
“Despite interest from top clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham, and Napoli, Goretzka will not pursue a move in the January transfer window.”
Goretzka has been on the books of Bayern since the summer of 2018 and has been an important player for the German giants over the years.
The 29-year-old Germany international midfielder has won the Bundesliga title five times, the UEFA Champions League once and the DFB-Pokal on two occasions with Bayern so far in his career.
Goretzka made 25 starts in the Bundesliga and nine starts in the UEFA Champions League last season, but under head coach Vincent Kompany, he has not played that much so far in this campaign.
The midfielder has scored one goal and given one assist in three starts and five substitute appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
Goretzka has made one start and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Bavarian giants in 2024-25 so far. He has scored one goal in those games.
