Eight-year-old Pedro Mello visited Corinthians’ CT Joaquim Grava on Friday morning, meeting the squad after being abused by supporters for receiving a Neymar shirt.
According to Globo.com, he arrived with relatives, watched Fernando Diniz lead training and was able to spend time with first-team players.
During the session he called to Memphis Depay and mimicked the forward’s trademark celebration. From distance, the Dutchman noticed, smiled and returned the gesture.
Pedro also met Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, André Carrillo and Rodrigo Garro, as well as coach Fernando Diniz.
On Friday, the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva fined Corinthians for disorder caused by supporters who insulted Pedro and his family after he received the Neymar shirt. Under article 213, item I, of the Brazilian sports code, the club must pay R$ 10,000.
The young Corinthians fan lives in Santa Catarina and travelled to São Paulo this week to meet his idols. He and his family are expected to be at Neo Química Arena on Sunday to watch Chapecoense in the Brasileirão at 19:30 Brasília time and to see the stadium.
